HP J9021A ProCurve 2810-24G Switch

The HP J9021A is a managed ProCurve 2810-24G Gigabit Ethernet switch designed for high-performance Layer 2 switching in enterprise and campus environments. It features 20 auto-sensing 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ-45 ports and 4 dual-personality ports that can be used either as additional 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ-45 copper ports or as mini-GBIC (SFP) slots for optional fiber optic connectivity.The switch operates as a store-and-forward device, delivering low-latency wire-speed performance with a non-blocking architecture. It supports full-duplex operation on all ports and provides advanced Layer 2 features including VLAN support (IEEE 802.1Q), port trunking (IEEE 802.3ad), Spanning Tree Protocol (STP, RSTP), IGMP snooping, and QoS prioritization for reliable network segmentation and traffic management.

The 4 dual-personality ports offer flexible deployment options: they accept standard RJ-45 copper cables for Gigabit Ethernet or mini-GBIC (SFP) transceivers such as 1000BASE-SX, 1000BASE-LX, 1000BASE-LH, or 100BASE-FX for fiber optic links. This allows seamless integration of short- or long-reach optical connections without requiring additional hardware.

Management is performed via a web-based interface, command-line interface (CLI) through console or Telnet/SSH, and SNMP support for integration with network management systems. The switch includes a dedicated RJ-45 console port for out-of-band management. It also supports redundant power supply connectivity via an optional external RPS (Redundant Power Supply) for increased availability.

The J9021A is engineered for rack-mount installation in a 1U form factor with dimensions of 44.3 cm (width) × 32.3 cm (depth) × 4.4 cm (height) and a weight of approximately 3.3 kg. It features front-panel LEDs for port status, link/activity, and system indicators. Power supply is auto-ranging AC (100–240 V, 50/60 Hz) with maximum consumption around 1.0 A.

Environmental specifications include an operating temperature range of 0°C to 45°C, relative humidity up to 95% (non-condensing), and compliance with relevant safety, EMC, and acoustic standards (noise level approximately 40.3 dB). The switch is suitable for deployment in controlled indoor environments such as wiring closets or data centers.
