The Nortel Networks NTFP19AL is a DS3/E3/JT2 ATM Termination Panel Cable designed for use with Nortel Magellan Passport multiservice switches and related ATM/TDM platforms. It serves as an interconnection cable between the system’s DS3/E3 interface cards (such as ATM Functional Processor cards) and the external termination panel or patch panel, enabling proper signal routing, grounding, and protection for high-speed digital trunks.This cable assembly is typically 15 meters in length and supports DS3 (44.736 Mbps), E3 (34.368 Mbps), and JT2 interfaces commonly used in carrier-grade ATM, Frame Relay, or leased-line applications. It features specialized connectors on both ends optimized for the Passport platform’s backplane or front-access interfaces and the termination panel side, ensuring low signal attenuation, impedance matching, and electromagnetic compatibility.
The NTFP19AL includes necessary shielding and ferrite components (in some variants) to minimize electromagnetic interference and ensure compliance with telecom standards for DS3/E3 transmission. It is engineered for reliable performance in central office environments, supporting point-to-point connections between the switch shelf and the DS3/E3 termination panel for cross-connect, monitoring, or protection purposes.
For installation, the cable is plugged directly into the designated ports on the DS3/E3 FP cards or ATM interface modules on one end and into the corresponding termination panel on the other. The module (cable) is intended for high-density DS3/E3 trunk deployments in Nortel Magellan Passport 7400/6400/6500 series or compatible multiservice platforms. In case of issues, the cable can be individually replaced without affecting the entire panel or card.
