The Avago AFBR-5710PZ is a high-performance Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) optical transceiver designed for Gigabit Ethernet (1000BASE-SX) and 1x Fibre Channel applications. This module is optimized for short-reach data transmission over multimode fiber (MMF) using a 850 nm Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser (VCSEL). It supports a signaling rate of 1.25 GBd, providing reliable connectivity for campus, data center, and enterprise network backbones. The transceiver is capable of achieving link distances up to 550 meters on 50/125 µm MMF and up to 275 meters on 62.5/125 µm MMF, ensuring flexibility across various legacy and modern cabling infrastructures. The AFBR-5710PZ is fully compliant with the SFP Multi-Source Agreement (MSA) and IEEE 802.3z standards. It features a duplex LC optical interface and operates from a single 3.3V power supply. A key feature of this model is the integrated Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) interface (also known as DOM), which allows real-time access to critical operating parameters such as transmitted optical power, received optical power, laser bias current, transceiver temperature, and supply voltage. This telemetry enables network administrators to perform proactive maintenance and rapid troubleshooting in mission-critical environments.
Engineered for carrier-grade reliability, the AFBR-5710PZ is housed in a robust metal enclosure to ensure superior electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding and mechanical durability. The module is hot-pluggable, allowing for installation and replacement without system downtime.
