The Avago AFCT-5710APZ is a high-performance, cost-effective Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) optical transceiver designed for Gigabit Ethernet (1000BASE-LX) and 1.0625 GBd Fibre Channel applications. Unlike short-reach multimode modules, the AFCT-5710APZ utilizes a 1310 nm Fabry-Perot (FP) laser transmitter, enabling data transmission over single-mode fiber (SMF) for distances up to 10 kilometers. It is also compatible with multimode fiber (MMF) up to 550 meters when used with a mode-conditioning patch cord, providing a versatile solution for campus backbones and metropolitan area networks.The device is fully compliant with the SFP Multi-Source Agreement (MSA) and IEEE 802.3z standards. It features a duplex LC optical interface and operates on a single 3.3V power supply. A critical feature of the AFCT-5710APZ is its integrated Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) interface, which provides real-time telemetry of vital operating parameters. Network operators can remotely monitor laser bias current, transmitted optical power, received optical power, internal temperature, and supply voltage, ensuring proactive link management and simplified troubleshooting in complex network topologies.

Engineered for carrier-grade reliability, the transceiver is housed in a robust metallic enclosure to provide superior electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding and mechanical durability. The module is hot-pluggable, allowing for non-disruptive installation or replacement in active switches, routers, and host bus adapters.
