Descripción
The COM GLC-LH-SM is a high-performance, cost-effective Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) optical transceiver designed for IEEE 802.3z Gigabit Ethernet and Fibre Channel applications. This dual-mode module is engineered to operate over both single-mode fiber (SMF) and multimode fiber (MMF) infrastructures. When deployed on standard single-mode fiber, it supports link distances up to 10 kilometers at a 1310 nm wavelength. For legacy multimode fiber installations, it can reach up to 550 meters, provided a mode-conditioning patch cord is utilized to prevent Differential Mode Delay (DMD) effects, making it an exceptionally versatile solution for campus backbones and enterprise uplinks. The transceiver features a robust duplex LC connector interface and is designed for a single 3.3V power supply. It utilizes a highly stable 1310 nm Fabry-Perot (FP) laser transmitter and a high-sensitivity PIN photodiode receiver to ensure reliable data transport with low bit-error rates. The device is fully compliant with the SFP Multi-Source Agreement (MSA), ensuring seamless interoperability with a wide range of networking hardware, including switches, routers, and media converters. Its hot-pluggable design allows for real-time network configuration changes and maintenance without requiring a system reboot or causing service interruptions on adjacent ports.
The COM GLC-LH-SM is built with a ruggedized metallic housing that provides superior electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding and enhanced thermal dissipation. This ensures stable performance in high-density rack-mount environments with commercial operating temperatures ranging from 0°C to 70°C. The module is lead-free and RoHS compliant, meeting modern environmental and safety standards. With its ability to bridge different fiber types, this transceiver is an essential component for network administrators seeking a standardized, long-reach interface for expanding core and distribution layer connectivity.
