GigaLight GPB-3424L-L2CD-AL SFP Transceiver Module

The GigaLight GPB-3424L-L2CD-AL is a hot-pluggable Bi-Directional (BiDi) SFP optical transceiver module designed for Gigabit Ethernet and 1G Fiber Channel applications. It operates using a single strand of single-mode fiber with WDM technology: 1310 nm Fabry-Perot (FP) laser transmitter and 1490 nm PIN photodiode receiver. The module supports data transmission distances up to 20 km and complies with the SFP Multi-Source Agreement (MSA) and SFF-8472 digital diagnostic specifications.This transceiver supports dual data rates of 1.25 Gbps for Gigabit Ethernet and 1.063 Gbps for 1G Fiber Channel. It features a simplex LC optical interface, allowing bidirectional communication over one single-mode fiber (SMF, ITU-T G.652). The electrical interface uses a 20-pin SFP connector with differential CML signals. The module operates from a single +3.3 V power supply with low power consumption, typically below 1 W.

Digital diagnostic monitoring (DDM) is implemented according to SFF-8472 via the two-wire I2C interface. This provides real-time access to critical parameters including transmitted optical power, received optical power, laser bias current, supply voltage, and module temperature. Programmable warning and alarm thresholds enable proactive monitoring and fault detection. Additional functions include transmitter disable (TX_DISABLE) and loss-of-signal (LOS) indication.

Optical performance includes average transmitter output power typically from -9 dBm to -3 dBm and receiver sensitivity of approximately -24 dBm or better, ensuring sufficient link budget for 20 km reach. The design meets IEEE 802.3z Gigabit Ethernet requirements and relevant Fiber Channel standards for jitter tolerance and extinction ratio. The GPB-3424L-L2CD-AL is classified as a Class 1 laser product and complies with RoHS and EMC standards.

The transceiver is compatible with a wide range of SFP-enabled switches, routers, and network devices. It is particularly suitable for Gigabit Ethernet links in enterprise networks, campus environments, metropolitan area networks, and FTTx applications where single-fiber deployment is required to optimize fiber usage.

Installation benefits from the industry-standard hot-pluggable SFP form factor, allowing insertion or removal without powering down the host equipment. The module supports commercial operating temperature range from 0°C to +70°C and requires minimal airflow for thermal management. It is recommended to use single-mode simplex LC patch cords.
