ADVA SFP/4GU/850I/MM/LC SFP Optical Transceiver

The ADVA SFP/4GU/850I/MM/LC is a small form-factor pluggable (SFP) optical transceiver module designed for short-reach multimode fiber applications in Fibre Channel and Gigabit Ethernet networks. Operating at a wavelength of 850 nm, the module supports data rates up to 4.25 Gbit/s, making it suitable for 4G Fibre Channel storage area networks and high-speed enterprise connectivity. The transceiver features a duplex LC connector interface, ensuring compatibility with standard structured cabling systems commonly deployed in data centers and telecommunications facilities. It complies with SFF-8472 digital diagnostic monitoring standards and Fibre Channel industry specifications, incorporating real-time access to operational parameters including temperature, laser bias current, transmitted and received optical power, and supply voltage. The module is hot-pluggable and designed for deployment in ADVA optical transport equipment and compatible third-party switches, routers, and storage fabric switches supporting SFP MSA-compliant slots. The "I" designation indicates industrial temperature range operation, ensuring reliable performance in demanding environmental conditions from -40°C to +85°C. The transceiver utilizes VCSEL (Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser) technology for efficient optical signal generation over multimode fiber with typical reach up to 150 meters on OM2 fiber and extended distances on OM3/OM4 fiber types. Management and provisioning are performed through a two-wire serial interface (I2C), enabling seamless integration with network management and storage fabric monitoring systems.
