Source Photonics SP-GB-LX-CDFM-ZT SFP Transceiver

The Source Photonics SP-GB-LX-CDFM-ZT is a hot-pluggable SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) optical transceiver module designed for Gigabit Ethernet and 1G Fibre Channel applications. It supports dual data rates of 1.25 Gbit/s (1000BASE-LX) and 1.0625 Gbit/s, providing a bidirectional optical interface in a compact MSA-compliant package.This module operates at a nominal wavelength of 1310 nm using a Fabry-Perot (FP) laser transmitter and a PIN photodiode receiver. It is optimized for single-mode fiber (SMF 9/125 µm) with a typical transmission distance of up to 10 km. The optical link budget supports reliable performance with low bit error rates (better than 10⁻¹²) under standard fiber attenuation conditions. Transmitter average output power ranges from -9.5 dBm to -3 dBm, with an extinction ratio of at least 9 dB. The receiver offers sensitivity down to -20 dBm and overload at -3 dBm.

The SP-GB-LX-CDFM-ZT complies with the SFP MSA, IEEE 802.3z 1000BASE-LX, and Fibre Channel standards. It features digital diagnostic monitoring (DDM/DOM) compliant with SFF-8472, enabling real-time reporting of transmitted and received optical power, laser bias current, temperature, and supply voltage via the I²C interface for performance monitoring and fault isolation.

Optical connectivity is provided through a duplex LC connector. Key operational features include Loss of Signal (LOS) detection and assertion, automatic laser shutdown (ALS) for Class 1 eye safety compliance, and hot-swap support. The module uses the standard 20-pin SFP electrical interface with a single +3.3 V power supply and low power consumption (typically below 1 W), making it suitable for high-density port configurations in switches, routers, and multiservice access platforms.

Environmental specifications include a commercial operating case temperature range of -5°C to +70°C (with extended and industrial variants available in the same family). The transceiver features high humidity tolerance and built-in ESD protection. It is primarily used for point-to-point Gigabit Ethernet links in metro access networks, enterprise backbones, or as uplink/tributary interfaces in compatible equipment.

The module integrates seamlessly with network management systems for remote monitoring. Installation requires standard fiber optic cleaning procedures, correct Tx/Rx fiber polarity, and adherence to minimum bend radius guidelines for patch cords.
