Descripción
The Ascom FR48V-1200W is a compact 48V rectifier module designed for telecom power systems. It converts single-phase AC input to regulated DC output, supplying power to -48V DC loads in base stations, transmission sites, access networks, and other telecommunications infrastructure. The module supports parallel operation with multiple units in power shelves or cabinets to achieve higher system capacity and N+1 redundancy. The rectifier accepts a wide AC input voltage range of 150–276 Vrms and delivers a nominal output of 53.5 Vdc, with adjustable output voltage from 42 Vdc to 58 Vdc. It provides up to 1200 W of output power at high efficiency (≥90%), resulting in low power losses (maximum 135 W). The constant output power characteristic ensures stable performance across the operating range. The module incorporates active power factor correction and delivers sinusoidal input current.
Key protection features include overvoltage protection on the output, thermal overload protection, and input undervoltage/overvoltage shutdown. Front-panel LED indicators provide status information for AC presence, DC output OK, power limit, and fault conditions. The design supports hot-plug insertion and removal in live systems with rear connectors for AC input, DC output, and signal interface.
The FR48V-1200W is engineered for continuous operation in controlled indoor environments typical of telecom power plants. It integrates with Ascom or compatible power system controllers for centralized monitoring, voltage adjustment, current sharing, and alarm management via the rear signal connector. The module is lightweight and occupies minimal space, allowing high power density in 19-inch or ETSI racks.
This rectifier module is commonly deployed in 48V DC power systems for mobile network equipment, including remote radio units, baseband units, microwave links, and fixed-line transmission gear. It is suitable for both new installations and replacement in legacy Ascom power systems. Proper system configuration is required for current sharing when multiple modules operate in parallel. Installation involves sliding the module into the power shelf, connecting rear plugs, and verifying output voltage and current sharing during commissioning.
Maintenance is limited to periodic visual inspection of LEDs and dust cleaning. In case of failure, the hot-swappable design allows replacement without interrupting the DC bus when redundant modules are present. The FR48V-1200W complies with relevant telecom power standards for safety, EMC, and performance.
