The Nortel Networks NTJS07DA (also known as IPC1H5ZAAA in some listings) is a 2-Port OC-3c/STM-1 ATM Functional Processor (FP) Card with multi-mode fiber interfaces, designed for the Nortel Passport MSS 6480 / 7480 multiservice switching platforms (part of the Passport 6400/7400/15000 series family).This line interface module provides two independent OC-3c/STM-1 (155.52 Mbps) ATM ports optimized for multi-mode fiber (MMF) connectivity. It supports full ATM cell switching, VP/VC cross-connection, traffic management, and Quality of Service (QoS) features required for ATM-based multiservice networks. The card performs ATM Adaptation Layer processing and interworking with other Passport FP cards and fabric modules for non-blocking cell forwarding.

The NTJS07DA features two multi-mode fiber ports with SC duplex connectors, supporting transmission distances typically up to 2 km over 62.5/125 µm or 50/125 µm multi-mode fiber. It is well-suited for short-reach ATM backbone, aggregation, or intra-building connections in metro and enterprise environments.

For installation and maintenance, the module occupies a dedicated line card slot in the Passport MSS 6480/7480 chassis. It is a field-replaceable unit with robust backplane connectors. The card operates on standard -48 VDC telecom power and includes front-panel indicators for per-port link status, activity, alarms, and module health. Proper fiber cleaning and inspection are essential to maintain optimal optical performance.

The card is engineered for carrier-class reliability in central office environments, complying with NEBS-level requirements for electromagnetic compatibility, thermal performance, and high availability. It supports redundant configurations where applicable and facilitates fault isolation through built-in diagnostics and system-level monitoring.

During operation, the NTJS07DA continuously monitors port status, ATM cell statistics, and link quality on both ports, reporting alarms and performance data to the central control processor. Configuration, traffic engineering, and firmware updates are managed through the Passport Element Management System or CLI.
