Descripción
The Nokia Networks 09-X502-0/B.07 is an Indoor Unit (IDU) for microwave radio transmission systems, serving as the baseband processing and network interface component in point-to-point microwave links. It pairs with compatible Outdoor Units (ODU) via a single coaxial cable that carries intermediate frequency (IF) signals, DC power, and management data, forming a complete microwave terminal for mobile backhaul, fixed access, or private network applications. This IDU performs digital baseband processing, modulation/demodulation, multiplexing, traffic grooming, and cross-connection functions. It supports PDH (E1/T1), SDH (STM-1), and Ethernet (Fast Ethernet/Gigabit Ethernet) interfaces, with flexible configuration for various capacity and protection schemes including 1+0, 1+1 hot standby, and 2+0 XPIC (Cross Polarization Interference Cancellation) operation. The /B.07 hardware revision provides enhanced compatibility and performance within the NSN Mini-Link or FlexiPacket microwave platform family.
The unit handles adaptive modulation (from QPSK up to 256QAM or higher, depending on the paired ODU and license), enabling dynamic optimization of link capacity versus availability under changing propagation conditions. It includes synchronization support via SyncE, external timing inputs, or line timing, as well as QoS mechanisms for prioritized transport of voice, data, and signaling traffic. Comprehensive fault and performance management features allow detailed monitoring of Received Signal Level (RSL), Bit Error Rate (BER), SNR, and traffic statistics through the NSN network management system (NMS).
The 09-X502-0/B.07 is designed for 19-inch rack mounting in indoor telecom cabinets or equipment rooms. It features front-accessible tributary ports, management interfaces (Ethernet or serial), and status LEDs for power, link status, alarms, and traffic activity. The module supports remote software upgrades and configuration via the NMS, reducing the need for site visits. Power supply is typically -48 V DC with integrated redundancy options in protected configurations.
In deployment, the IDU connects to the ODU mounted on the tower or rooftop, supporting licensed frequency bands from 6 GHz to 38 GHz (or higher, depending on the ODU model). It is suitable for aggregation links, last-mile backhaul, or enterprise connectivity where high reliability, low latency, and scalable capacity are required. Installation involves rack mounting, connection of power, tributary cables, management ports, and the ODU coaxial cable, followed by antenna alignment and NMS commissioning.
Maintenance is facilitated by hot-swappable capability in protected setups, front-panel diagnostics, and extensive NMS support for alarm correlation, performance counters, and loopback testing. The unit contains no user-serviceable parts inside under normal operation beyond cleaning of connectors and verification of cabling. Environmental specifications cover standard central office conditions: operating temperature 0°C to +45°C (or wider in some configurations) and humidity up to 95% non-condensing.
The 09-X502-0/B.07 complies with relevant ITU-T, ETSI, and IEC standards for microwave radio equipment, including electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), safety, and environmental resilience. This IDU provides a reliable and cost-effective solution for sustaining and expanding legacy NSN microwave networks still in active service, delivering high-capacity wireless transport without immediate full-system replacement.
