ZTE GPI1 General Packet Interface Board

The ZTE GPI1 is a dedicated General Packet Interface Board designed for high-capacity telecommunication nodes, such as the ZXUR 9000 and ZXUN xGW platforms. This module serves as a critical physical interface layer, providing connectivity between the radio access network and the core transport network. It is engineered to support a variety of transmission protocols and physical media, facilitating the ingress and egress of high-speed packet traffic within an ATCA-based subrack environment.The GPI1 board performs essential data link layer functions, including packet framing, encapsulation, and physical line termination. It is equipped with multiple high-speed ports (typically SFP-based) to support optical or electrical Ethernet connectivity, ensuring flexible integration into existing transmission infrastructures. The module works in synchronization with the system’s switching fabric (FSWA) and processing units (GPBB/GPBX) to deliver seamless end-to-end data transport.
Reliability is a core feature, with the GPI1 supporting hardware-level link protection and redundancy mechanisms to maintain network uptime. The front panel is outfitted with status LEDs for port activity (LNK/ACT) and board health (RUN, ALM), allowing for rapid on-site diagnostics. Built for 24/7 carrier-grade operation, the board supports hot-swappable installation, enabling interface expansion or hardware replacement without system-wide downtime.
