ZTE GPI2 General Packet Interface Board

The ZTE GPI2 is an advanced General Packet Interface Board designed for high-density traffic aggregation and transport within carrier-grade platforms, such as the ZXUR 9000 and ZXUN xGW series. As an evolution of the GPI series, this module provides enhanced physical layer connectivity, serving as a critical bridge between the subrack's internal switching fabric and the external transport network. It is built on the ATCA (Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture) standard, ensuring seamless integration into multi-service telecommunication environments.The GPI2 board is engineered to handle high-speed Ethernet transmission, offering multiple optical or electrical interface ports for flexible network deployment. It performs essential functions including physical line termination, Ethernet framing, and VLAN tagging/untagging, while supporting Jumbo frames for optimized data transport. The board's architecture is optimized for low-power consumption and high-speed data throughput, facilitating the efficient flow of both User Plane and Control Plane traffic.

For operational reliability, the GPI2 supports Link Aggregation (LAG) and hardware-level redundancy, ensuring continuous network availability in the event of link failure. The front panel features a comprehensive set of LED indicators for per-port link status, activity, and overall board health (RUN, ALM). Designed for 24/7 mission-critical operations, the module supports hot-swappable installation and removal, allowing for interface upgrades or maintenance without system interruption. It adheres to international telecommunication standards for reliability, thermal performance, and electromagnetic compatibility.
