ZTE OPBB1 Optical Processing Board

The ZTE OPBB1 is a high-performance Optical Processing Board designed for carrier-grade telecommunication platforms, including the ZXUR 9000 Radio Network Controller (RNC) and ZXUN xGW gateway systems. Built on the Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture (ATCA), this module serves as a primary optical interface and processing unit, facilitating high-speed data transmission between the radio access network and the core transport infrastructure. It is engineered to handle intensive packet processing tasks while managing multiple optical links, making it a critical component for high-capacity 3G, 4G, and converged network deployments.The OPBB1 board performs essential functions such as optical-to-electrical (O/E) conversion, frame synchronization, and protocol encapsulation/decapsulation. It typically features multiple SFP-based optical ports, supporting a wide range of transceivers for various transmission distances and fiber types. The module is optimized for low-latency data forwarding and incorporates advanced hardware acceleration for processing radio interface protocols (such as Iub over IP/ATM or Iu-PS/CS). It works in close coordination with the system's switching fabric (FSWA) to ensure efficient distribution of subscriber traffic across the subrack.
