The Avago AFBR-57M5APZ is a high-performance, multi-rate Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) optical transceiver designed for Fibre Channel and Gigabit Ethernet applications. It supports triple-rate operation at 2.125 GBd (2GFC), 1.0625 GBd (1GFC), and 1.25 GBd (1000BASE-SX), providing versatile connectivity for legacy and modern storage area networks (SAN) and enterprise data links. The module utilizes an 850 nm Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser (VCSEL) to transmit data over multimode fiber (MMF), supporting link distances up to 300 meters on 50/125 µm fiber and 150 meters on 62.5/125 µm fiber at the highest supported rate.The AFBR-57M5APZ is fully compliant with the SFP Multi-Source Agreement (MSA) and physical layer specifications defined in FC-PI-2. It features a duplex LC optical connector and operates from a single 3.3V power supply. The module includes an integrated Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) interface, which enables real-time access to operational parameters such as transmitted and received optical power, laser bias current, internal temperature, and supply voltage. This capability is essential for proactive link health monitoring and rapid fault isolation in mission-critical telecommunications and data center environments.
Built for carrier-grade reliability, the transceiver is housed in a robust metallic enclosure to ensure high electromagnetic interference (EMI) performance and mechanical durability.
