The Avago AFBR-57R6APZ is a high-performance Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) optical transceiver designed for multi-rate Fibre Channel applications in Storage Area Networks (SAN). This module supports data signaling rates of 4.25, 2.125, and 1.0625 GBd, providing seamless backward compatibility with 4G, 2G, and 1G Fibre Channel systems. It utilizes an 850 nm Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser (VCSEL) and is optimized for data transmission over multimode fiber (MMF). The transceiver supports operational distances of up to 150 meters on 50/125 µm OM2 fiber and extended reaches on OM3/OM4 grade cabling, ensuring reliable high-speed connectivity for enterprise storage directors and switches.The AFBR-57R6APZ is fully compliant with the SFP Multi-Source Agreement (MSA) and the FC-PI-4 physical layer specifications. It operates from a single 3.3V power supply and features a standard duplex LC optical interface. The module includes an integrated Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) interface, which provides real-time access to critical operating parameters such as laser bias current, transmitted optical power, received optical power, internal temperature, and supply voltage. This telemetry is essential for advanced network diagnostics and proactive link management in mission-critical data center environments.
Engineered for carrier-grade reliability, the transceiver is housed in a robust metallic enclosure to provide superior electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding and mechanical durability.
