The NeoPhotonics PT7420-61-2W is a hot-pluggable SFP optical transceiver module designed for 2.5 Gbps high-speed data transmission. It operates at a nominal wavelength of 1310 nm using a distributed feedback (DFB) laser transmitter and a PIN photodiode receiver. The module supports reliable transmission distances up to 15 km over single-mode fiber (ITU-T G.652) and complies with the SFP Multi-Source Agreement (MSA), SFF-8472 digital diagnostic specifications, and ITU-T G.957 standards for STM-16/OC-48 interfaces.This transceiver is optimized for a nominal data rate of 2.5 Gbps (2.48832 Gbps for SONET/SDH STM-16/OC-48) and is also suitable for 2.5 Gbps Ethernet or other multi-rate applications in the 1.25–2.67 Gbps range. It features duplex LC optical connectors and is intended for use with single-mode fiber (SMF). The electrical interface consists of a 20-pin SFP connector with differential CML signals. Digital diagnostic monitoring (DDM/DOM) functions are implemented via the two-wire I2C serial interface. This enables real-time monitoring and reporting of critical parameters including transmitted optical power, received optical power, laser bias current, supply voltage, and module temperature. Programmable warning and alarm thresholds support proactive fault detection and performance management. Additional features include transmitter disable (TX_DISABLE) and loss-of-signal (LOS) indication.
