The Alcatel-Lucent 90-2180-01/E Termination Card is a service interface board engineered for client signal termination, adaptation, and transport in optical transport network platforms for SDH/SONET and DWDM/OTN architectures. This module provides comprehensive service interface functionality for aggregating and transporting various client services including E1/T1, E3/T3, STM-1/OC-3, STM-4/OC-12, Gigabit Ethernet, and Fast Ethernet onto synchronous optical network infrastructure in metro access, aggregation, and core network deployments. The termination card implements advanced signal processing functionality including clock recovery, jitter attenuation, frame synchronization, overhead processing, and virtual container (VC) mapping per ITU-T G.707, G.704, and G.709 specifications for efficient bandwidth utilization and service multiplexing. The board features multiple client interface ports with appropriate connectors (BNC for coaxial E1/T1/E3/T3, RJ-45 for twisted pair, LC/SC for optical interfaces) supporting flexible integration with diverse customer premises equipment and network infrastructure. Advanced features include automatic protection switching (APS) with sub-50ms switchover, loopback testing capabilities (local and remote) for service validation and fault isolation, performance monitoring of bit error rate (BER), code violations, eroded seconds, unavailable seconds, and frame alignment errors, and comprehensive alarm indication signal (AIS), remote defect indication (RDI), and loss of signal (LOS) detection and generation. The module supports integrated timing distribution, synchronization supply unit (SSU) connectivity, and building integrated timing supply (BITS) interfaces for network synchronization. Integration with the transport shelf backplane provides connectivity to cross-connect matrices for flexible traffic grooming and bandwidth management across the transport network. Management interfaces include TL1, SNMP v3, NETCONF/YANG, and proprietary element management system protocols for integration with Alcatel-Lucent's 1350 OMS and third-party network management systems. Power is supplied via −48 V DC backplane distribution with hot-swappable design enabling field replacement without service disruption.
