The ZTE TSWA0 is a specialized Trunk Switch Board designed for carrier-grade telecommunication platforms, including the ZXUR 9000 Radio Network Controller (RNC) and ZXG10 iBSC systems. Built on the Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture (ATCA), this module serves as a primary switching unit for trunk-level traffic, facilitating the aggregation and distribution of data between the radio access network and the core network interfaces. It is engineered to handle high-density signaling and user traffic, providing a non-blocking switching path within the subrack's base plane and fabric plane. The TSWA0 executes critical functions including Layer 2 and Layer 3 packet switching, trunk resource management, and sophisticated Quality of Service (QoS) enforcement. A key feature of this board is its integrated timing and synchronization unit, which supports precise clock recovery and distribution (SyncE, BITS, and GPS) across the backplane to ensure operational consistency for all connected service modules. The board acts as a central hub for internal subrack communication, managing the routing of control messages between main processing units (MPBA) and various interface boards.
Designed for mission-critical reliability, the TSWA0 supports full 1+1 hardware redundancy, enabling automatic failover and state synchronization to maintain continuous network availability. The front panel is equipped with comprehensive LED indicators (RUN, ALM, ACT) for real-time diagnostics of the board's health and its role as the active or standby switching controller. As a core system component, it supports hot-swappable installation, allowing for maintenance or capacity expansion without system-wide downtime. The module complies with international NEBS and ETSI standards for electromagnetic compatibility and thermal efficiency.
